Our Mission
At Red Sea University, Disability Support Services (DSS) are dedicated to promoting an accessible and inclusive educational environment for all students. We partner with students, faculty, and staff to implement accommodations and supportive measures that uphold each student’s right to an equitable academic experience.
What We Offer
- Accommodation Coordination: Facilitation of academic adjustments, auxiliary aids, and services (e.g., extended time for exams, note taking support, accessible technology, alternate-format course materials).
- Advocacy & Consultation: Collaboration with faculty and other campus offices to ensure accommodations are effectively implemented and to foster a culture of inclusion.
- Transition & Navigation Support: Assistance with transitioning into the university environment, understanding disability rights and responsibilities, and learning self-advocacy.
Eligibility
Any enrolled student with a documented disability—whether it’s a physical, sensory, psychological, learning, or other chronic health condition—is eligible to register with DSS. We also offer interim accommodations for students who are in the process of obtaining documentation or evaluations.
Registration Process
- Contact DSS: Get in touch with our office by phone, email, or by visiting us in person.
- Intake Meeting: Meet one-on-one with a DSS specialist to discuss your needs, review documentation, and determine appropriate accommodations.
- Accommodation Plan: Once approved, you’ll receive an individualized accommodation plan. DSS will coordinate with relevant faculty and university offices on your behalf.
Confidentiality
All student disability records and personal information are maintained confidentially within DSS. We only share information with faculty and staff on a strictly need-to-know basis to ensure the implementation of approved accommodations.
