Biography of Prof. Mohamed
President, Red Sea University
Prof. Mohamed is a distinguished academic leader and the current President of Red Sea University. He has dedicated his career to enhancing higher education and capacity-building efforts in Somali institutions, particularly focusing on strategic planning, performance management, and organizational development. His leadership is driven by a commitment to data-driven decision-making, process optimization, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within organizations.
Born with a keen interest in organizational development and technology, Prof. Mohamed pursued his PhD in Organizational Development from Tampere University of Technology, which laid the foundation for his impactful work in academia and consulting. His academic journey is complemented by numerous certifications, including Scrum, Cisco, and software engineering, which provide him with a diverse skill set applicable across both technological and organizational domains.
With over two decades of experience, Prof. Mohamed has gained invaluable expertise in technology, organizational development, and consulting. His professional career spans leadership roles at some of the world’s most reputable organizations, including Nokia, Accenture, QPR, and Tellabs. In these roles, he played a key part in developing telecom solutions, network protocols, and software systems for sectors such as government, banking, telecom, and insurance. His ability to bridge technical and strategic knowledge has earned him recognition as a leader in both public and private sectors.
Prof. Mohamed’s skills extend beyond technical expertise. He is renowned for his coaching, training, and knowledge transfer capabilities, helping individuals and organizations alike improve their managerial and technical skills. His consultancy services have been sought by top-tier institutions such as Dubai Bank, Qatar Ashghal, and Saudi Telecom, where he led successful initiatives in business process improvement and enterprise architecture.
In addition to his consulting work, Prof. Mohamed is deeply engaged in research and development. He is the founder of the Institute for Peace, Security, and Development (IPSED) in Somalia, an organization dedicated to fostering peace and growth in the region. Moreover, he was instrumental in establishing Somalia’s first quality control institution, marking a significant milestone in the country’s development.
As a respected thought leader, Prof. Mohamed continues to inspire those around him with his commitment to enhancing organizational effectiveness and advancing education. His contributions to both the academic and business communities remain a testament to his enduring passion for creating lasting change.

Dr. Faisal Abdirahman Abdullahi
Vice President for Admin and Finance
For the past decade, Dr. Faisal has been teaching at the Faculty of Economics and Management Science at Red Sea University. Additionally, he serves as the Vice President for Administration and Finance at the university, overseeing all financial matters, including procurement and logistics. With his wealth of experience in the development of institutional financial management, he also provides consultancy services to a range of businesses. Dr. Faisal is also an active advocate for the education rights of impoverished children. In an effort to improve Somali society, he is a founder of the Hanaqaad Social Development and Education Network, established in 2013, dedicated to providing free education and training for children and young people.

Dr. Ahmed Said Mohamud
Vice President for Academics
Dr. Ahmed Said Mohamud is a veterinarian and one health epidemiologist with extensive experience in higher education management and leadership. He previously worked as a researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Red Sea University in Galkaio campus and currently serves as a research and biostatistics senior lecturer at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Red Sea University. He also worked in senior academic administration positions in various higher education institutions in Somalia including his current service as the vice-president for academic affairs at the Red Sea University.
