BACKGROUND
- Red Sea University (RSU) is a private and non-profit university, registered by the Ministry of Education, and Higher Education of Somalia (Registration number: 257), with the main campus in Bosaso and a branch campus in Galkio, both in the Puntland state of Somalia.
- The history of RSU began in 1993 when a team of professors and eminent scholars set out to establish a University in Somalia with its headquarters in Mogadishu and eventually opened Mogadishu University (MU) in 1997.
- After a decade of success in the field of higher education, the founders chose to open a second campus in Puntland in 2008, specifically in Bosaso. Following assessments of the campus’s performance, the campus was eventually granted its own university status and given the name “Red Sea University”.
