TRAINING REPORT ON “NGO AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT”

The faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences conducted a training on NGO and Project Management to familiarize Public Administration students with Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs) and Project Management functions. The program aimed to provide students with the information and skills needed to effectively contribute to the non-profit sector and manage initiatives. The report summarizes the objectives, important themes covered, and highlights from the closing sessions.

Objectives:

The goals of the training program were to introduce Public Administration students to the operations of Non-Governmental Organizations and Project Management. Among the specific goals were:

  • Understanding the process of founding and registering NGOs.
  • Exploring governance and leadership within non-profit organizations.
  • Gaining knowledge about fundraising and financial management in the non-profit sector.
  • Developing skills for effective community engagement.
  • Providing an overview of Project Management principles.
  • Understanding the different stages of the project cycle.

Key Topics Discussed:

The training program covered a range of key topics essential for students to comprehend the particulars of NGO management and Project Management. These topics included:

Founding and Registration: Overview of the legal and procedural aspects involved in establishing and registering NGOs.

Governance and Leadership: Understanding the structure, roles, and responsibilities of leadership within non-profit organizations.

Fundraising and Financial Management: Exploring strategies for fundraising and the principles of financial management in the context of NGOs.

Community Engagement: Techniques and best practices for engaging with and mobilizing communities for social development.

Overview of Project Management: Introduction to the fundamental principles and concepts of Project Management.

Project Cycle: Understanding the various stages involved in the life cycle of a project, from initiation to closure.

The workshop was closed by the dean of the faculty, who praised the students’ active engagement and appreciated the facilitator’s and Red Sea University’s Head of Media’s contributions to the session’s arrangement. The students expressed gratitude for the useful insights received during the course. A special appreciation goes to the Red Sea University’s Chief Registrar, who coordinated the training from the start.

Overall, the training program successfully achieved its objectives of familiarizing Public Administration students with NGO functions and Project Management. The participatory nature of the program and positive feedback from students indicate the effectiveness of the training in preparing future public administrators for roles within the non-profit sector and project management.
