Overview
The Faculty of Sharia and Law at Red Sea University was Established in 2008, and committed to advancing the study of both law and Islamic Sharia. Our mission is to address the evolving sharia and legal needs in Somalia and contribute to the broader goals of nation and state building towards statute laws and sharia provisions.
As a pioneering institution, we are dedicated to the creation of a robust academic environment where legal theories and practices through class lectures and practical moot court, in both contemporary, conventional law and Islamic sharia are examined and refined.
Our B.A in Law program is an academic as well as professional degree. Graduates from the Faculty of Sharia and Law are well-equipped to understand the judicial, legislative, sharia provisions and executive systems. Over the years, our alumni have consistently contributed to both public and private sectors, providing valuable services that benefit society and support national development.
Our curriculum is tailored to the unique needs of Somali society, both Islamic Law, and state Formal Conventional Law. This comprehensive approach enables our students to engage in comparative legal studies, assessing Islamic law alongside conventional laws.
